1932 American Flyer 5pc. Clockwork Train Set in Original Box
Beautiful 5 piece American Flyer Clockwork (wind-up) Train Set complete with track, connectors, original box, and inserts. Includes cast iron locomotive, and tinplate tender, passenger car, baggage car, and observation car. Written in pencil (kid writing) inside the bottom of the box reads, "bought in the year 1932 for Christmas". Manufacture of the individual cars is slightly earlier. Locomotive No.2 (without the No.2 marking), mfg. 1923-24 Tender No. 120, mfg. 1925-27 Passenger Car No. 1107, mfg. 1925-27 Baggage Car No. 1108, mfg. 1928 Observation Car No. 1120, mfg. 1928 Track - 3 straights, 8 curves, 5 connectors. Total length approx. 9.1 feet. Box - includes top, bottom, and 5 inserts. American Flyer Wind-Up Train label is nearly 100% complete. Size: 12" x 14" x 3". Sold: Dec. 2010
Black painted cast iron with gold highlights and yellow A.F. window trim. Winds with original key. Clockwork mechanism secured by one screw. Die cast 10 spoke red painted wheels. Brass finished piston rod. T-shaped handle release brake in cab. Size: 6½".
Black frame and load marked American Flyer in script. Blue green body with red, gold and black trim. Gold finished tail light, tin wheels, and coupler. Size: 4¾".
Scarce dark blue with orange and red trim. Marked "American Flyer Lines" and "Made in U.S.A" on either end. Black frame has been repainted. Tin wheels. Size: 5½".
Orange with orange roof and green trim with rivet heads and barred windows. Sliding doors on both sides. Marked American Flyer Lines and United States Mail Railway Post Office. Made in U.S.A. marked on sides. Tin wheels, black frame. Size: 5½".
Red body, maroon roof and brass finished rear enclosure marked Flyer Limited.. Marked American Flyer Lines and Made In U.S.A. on ends. Die cut windows and doors outlined with white cross-hatches. Outlined in black and yellow. Tin wheels, black frame. Size: 5½".
